Listen to Your Teen

Now, it's time for them to hear from you. Talk with your teen about not using alcohol underage. Ask what their friends and peers have said about underage alcohol use. Encourage your teen to feel empowered to think for themselves, form their own opinions, and make decisions. Make sure your teen knows you trust them. Ask them to share a time they made a tough decision they were proud of afterwards.

It takes focus and presence to have meaningful conversations with your teen, especially about serious topics like alcohol use. Whether it's during a car ride, a shared meal, or while relaxing at home, find natural moments to check in and talk. Be present. Be proactive.
